AN ENGLISH GENTLEMAN 7” – IS IT RED VINYL OR IS IT BLACK?
Question: AN ENGLISH GENTLEMAN 7” – IS IT RED VINYL OR IS IT BLACK?
Well in fact it’s both!
The An English Gentleman single is out on Monday on CD and 2 limited 7”s. One of the 7” formats is packaged in a gatefold sleeve (88697003187) which has room to house the other one, and this one was due to be pressed on coloured RED vinyl.
Unfortunately, due to a problem at manufacture, a quantity of the red vinyls have actually gone out as BLACK vinyl. Fear not, these are being re-pressed as red vinyl as we speak, however it is likely that we will not be able to correct the problem by the time of release. For this reason, anyone that purchases the Gatefold 7” format should send us a copy of their receipt, along with their name and address, and the store and town in which it was purchased, and we will post you back the correct red coloured vinyl.
You’re free to hang on to your incorrect - albeit set to be a future collector’s item – BLACK vinyl!
Send your receipt to:

FREEPOST (SW8031)

Any pre-orders from Recordstore.co.uk are unaffected.

Next single: An English Gentleman
Following the success of his debut solo album ‘The Great Western’, Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield releases a new single ‘An English Gentleman’ on 25th September and heads out on his first full UK solo tour.
All formats feature new tracks including a cover of the Sinatra song ‘Summer Wind’ which James has been performing live on recent dates. The Maxi CD features the song’s video and there are two limited edition 7”’s – one with a gatefold sleeve that both versions can be fitted in. ‘An English Gentleman’ (live) will also be made available as a download from 25/09/06.
‘An English Gentleman’ pays moving tribute to the benevolence of the late Philip Hall; their publicist, close friend and mentor who went so far beyond the call of duty as to move the young Manics into his home as they took their first crucial steps. James explains "I remember Philip coming to meet our parents for the first time, and he turned up and he wasn't the flash Londoner that they thought he was gonna be. I just remember that, the never the twain shall meet, our parents and this supposedly big, fat-cat, cigar-in-his-mouth London manager, and when they actually met, there wasn't that much difference between them in a strange kind of way. Even though he was very comfortable with my parents, there was something quite swashbuckling about him."
We will announce tracklisting soon. Meanwhile enjoy the video here:
